One rule: what your child says is used, then gone.
This page explains how Little Wisp treats your child's voice and your family's data, without the legal weather. The fullprivacy notice and children's privacy notice have the details.
The voice moment
What happens in the seconds after your child answers
- 1
The microphone is open only while a question is waiting
It opens when the story asks, and stops recording when your child goes quiet, or after a few seconds of silence.
- 2
The clip becomes words
A speech-to-text service turns the short recording into text. We send only the audio, with no name, account or story attached.
- 3
The words become a choice
A matching service compares the words to the choices the story offers, and answers with one of them, or none. It cannot answer anything else.
- 4
Both are dropped
The recording and the words are held in memory only for those steps. We store the choice taken, and nothing about how it was said.
Why we say “processed”, not “anonymous”
A child's voice is personal information even without a name attached, and two companies help us handle it for a few seconds each. Dropping it afterwards limits what exists; it does not undo that it was collected. So we do not claim nothing is collected, or that it is anonymous. We claim something narrower and true: it is used for one purpose, shared with named helpers for that purpose only, and not kept.
What we keep
Under your account, for the service to work
- Your account
- The details needed to sign you in and to know which stories are yours. Today an account is created for you; a sign-in step is on the way.
- Story progress
- Which stories were started, which choices were taken, and where each story is up to, so it can be resumed.
- Usage records
- For each answer, a record of the service used and how much of it, so we can watch costs. No content, no audio, no words.
- Consent records
- When parental consent arrives, who gave it, when, for what, and how it was verified. Kept so we can prove it and honour a withdrawal.
How long each is kept: [PLACEHOLDER: RETENTION PERIOD FOR STORY PROGRESS AND ACCOUNT DATA]. Full schedule in the privacy notice.
What we never collect
There is no child profile to protect, because there is none
- Your child's name, nickname, birthday or age
- Photos, videos or a voice signature
- Recordings of anything your child said
- Transcripts of anything your child said
- A profile of your child, their interests or their mood
- School, address or location
The one thing linked to a child is their story progress, and it hangs off the parent's account. We treat that as personal information too.
Who helps us
The companies involved when a child plays
We name them, because “trusted partners” tells you nothing. Authoring tools that never touch a child's data are listed separately in the privacy notice.
Speech-to-text
DeepInfra
Receives the short audio clip of your child's answer and returns the words it heard. We do not ask it to keep either.
Clearance: [PLACEHOLDER: CLEARANCE STATUS AND DATE]
Answer matching
OpenRouter (routing to [PLACEHOLDER: UPSTREAM MODEL PROVIDER])
Receives the transcribed words and the short list of authored choices for that question, and returns which choice it best matches, or none.
Clearance: [PLACEHOLDER: CLEARANCE STATUS AND DATE]
Hosting, database and audio storage
[PLACEHOLDER: HOSTING PROVIDER]
Runs the service, stores your account and saved story progress, and serves pre-recorded story audio.
Clearance: [PLACEHOLDER: CLEARANCE STATUS AND DATE]
Some of this processing happens outside your country, including in the United States. Where and by whom is set out in theprivacy notice.
Content
Every word a child hears was approved by a person
Finished before play
Stories are written, reviewed and recorded before publication. Nothing is generated while a child is listening.
Including the small stuff
The re-asks, the “you already tried that”, the response to silence: all authored, all approved. There is no unreviewed fallback line.
Tell us if something is off
Heard a line you did not like, or something that did not fit? Write to [PLACEHOLDER: support@example.com] with the story name. A person reads it.
