The basics
What is Little Wisp, in one breath?
An interactive audio story for young children. Your child listens, the story stops to ask what should happen, your child answers out loud, and the story follows their choice. Every path was written and approved by a person before anyone hears it.
Why is it called Little Wisp?
A wisp is a small floating light, the kind that leads travellers somewhere in old stories. It also sounds like “little whisper”, which is about how loud a child answers a story at bedtime. The name is ours; the stories are about all sorts of things.
What ages is it for?
Children aged [INTENDED AGE RANGE, e.g. 4–8]. Stories are written for that range. Younger children enjoy it with a grown-up nearby; older ones happily run it alone.
Is it really screen-free?
The story is audio. A grown-up presses play in a browser, and after that nothing on the screen is needed: the phone or tablet can lie face down. We show the story text on screen for parents who want to follow along, but a child never has to look.
What do I need?
A laptop or tablet with a microphone and a modern browser, and a room that is not too loud. Little Wisp is in early access and runs in the browser today.
How much does it cost?

What if my child says something that is not one of the choices?
The story asks again, in words its author wrote for that moment. If there is still no usable answer after two tries, the story picks a path itself and carries on, so nobody gets stuck.
What if my child is shy, or says nothing?
Silence is treated like an unclear answer: a gentle re-ask, then the story moves on. Many children find their voice by the second story. You can also answer for them, by voice, by typing, or by tapping the choice.
Does it understand mumbling, accents, made-up words?
Usually. The matcher only has to decide which of two to four offered choices the words are closest to, which is a much easier job than understanding everything. When it cannot tell, it says so and the story asks again.
Can the story say something you did not write?
No. Stories are finite and fully pre-written; nothing is generated while a child plays. The only live step is matching an answer to one of the offered choices.
Can we stop halfway and come back?
Yes. Progress is saved under your account, and a story resumes where it left off.
How long is a story?
It depends on the story and on the path your child takes. Each story is built from sentence-sized phrases with a few forks, and every fork ends. We do not publish running times yet.
Privacy and safety
Is Little Wisp AI?
AI is used in three narrow places, all under a human: drafting story text between the author's fixed beats at writing time, performing approved lines as speech at recording time, and turning your child's answer into words and matching it to a choice during play. It is never used to generate story content while a child is listening, and it never chats with your child.
Do you record my child?
The microphone captures a short clip when the story asks a question. The clip is turned into words and matched to a choice, then both are dropped. Recordings and transcripts are not stored by us. See the safety page for the step-by-step.
Who else sees my child's voice?
Two service providers, for a few seconds each: one that turns audio into words, and one that matches words to a choice. They are named on the safety page and in the privacy notice, along with where they process data.
Do you make a profile of my child?
No. We do not ask for or store a child's name, age, photo or voice signature. Story progress is saved under the parent's account, and we treat it as personal information.
How do I see or delete our data?
Write to [PLACEHOLDER: privacy@example.com] from the address on your account. We will send you everything held under it, or delete it. A self-serve parent area is on the way.
Do I need to consent before my child plays?
Yes. Before general launch, a verified parental consent step ([PLACEHOLDER: VERIFIABLE PARENTAL CONSENT METHOD]) comes before any recording. In early access, playing is limited to accounts we set up directly with parents who have read the children's privacy notice.
Are there ads?
No ads, no in-story purchases, no analytics inside a story, and nothing a child does is ever used for marketing. This website has no trackers either.
I heard a line I did not like. What do I do?
Tell us: [PLACEHOLDER: support@example.com], with the story name and roughly where it happened. A person reads every report.
