Screen-free stories your child steers with their own voice.
Little Wisp is an interactive audio story. Your child listens, answers out loud, and the story follows wherever they lead. No tapping, no watching, no autoplay rabbit hole. Just a small light to follow at bedtime.
For children aged [INTENDED AGE RANGE, e.g. 4–8]. Set up by a parent, in a browser with a microphone.
- Every word a child hears was approved by a human
- What your child says is used to pick the path, then dropped
- No child profiles. We never ask for your child's name or age
- No ads, no trackers, no analytics in the story
How it works
Three steps. One of them is yours.
After you press play, the story belongs to your child. Here is what happens.
- 1
You pick a story and press play
A grown-up chooses from the library and starts the story. That is the last time anyone needs to touch the screen.
- 2
Your child listens, then answers out loud
Every so often the story stops and asks a question. Your child just says what they want to happen. No tapping, no reading.
- 3
The story follows their voice
Their answer picks the next path through a story that was written, checked and recorded ahead of time. Nothing is made up on the spot.
What makes it different
Screen time, audiobooks, chatbots. Little Wisp is none of them.
We built it for the moments you want your child absorbed in something, without handing over a glowing rectangle.
Not a screen
There is nothing to watch. The phone can lie face down on the blanket while the story plays. Eyes rest, imagination does the work.
Not a chatbot
Little Wisp is a finite, fully pre-written story with a handful of forks. An author approved every word before a child hears it. It cannot improvise, and it cannot go somewhere no adult has read.
Not just an audiobook
Your child is in the story, not beside it. Being asked, and being heard, is the whole point.
Made for the in-between
Bedtime. Car rides. The forty minutes before dinner.
The moments where a screen is the easy answer. Little Wisp is the easy answer that leaves them calmer, not wired.
Wind-down at bedtime
Lights low, phone face down, one story with a proper ending.
Long drives
Everyone hears the story; the child in the back gets to steer it.
Quiet time
Twenty minutes where your child is busy, and you are too.
Together
Sit in. Getting asked "what do you think?" is more fun with an audience.
A question, mid-story
“The little light is flickering. Do we follow it over the bridge, or wait in the hollow tree until morning?”
Listening…
An illustrative moment, not a line from a specific story.
A small light, not a spotlight.
Built like a bedtime story, not like an app that wants your attention. We wrote down one rule before we wrote any code: what your child says is used to pick the path, then it is gone.
- Human-approved
- An author reads and approves every word, every re-ask, every ending before a story is published.
- Transient voice
- Your child's answer is transcribed, matched to a choice, and dropped. Recordings and transcripts are not stored.
- No child profile
- We do not ask for, or store, a child's name, age, photo or voice signature. Progress is saved under the parent's account.
- Nothing to buy mid-story
- No ads, no in-story purchases, no analytics on story pages. Marketing stays on pages like this one.
Questions parents ask
The short answers
What ages is Little Wisp for?
Little Wisp is made for children aged [INTENDED AGE RANGE, e.g. 4–8], who love being asked what should happen next. Younger children usually enjoy it with a grown-up nearby; older ones happily run it themselves.
Is this AI? What does it actually do with my child's voice?
Two narrow jobs, both at the moment your child answers: turning the short audio clip into words, and matching those words to one of the choices the story offers. The clip and the words are not kept. The story itself was written and approved before publication and is never generated live.
What if my child says something unexpected, or nothing at all?
The story gently asks again, in words the author wrote for exactly that moment. If there is still no usable answer after two tries, the story picks a path and keeps going, so nobody gets stuck.
Why is it called Little Wisp?
A wisp is a small floating light, the kind that leads you somewhere in old stories. It also sounds like “little whisper”, which is about how loud a child answers a story at bedtime.
Press play. Put the phone down. Listen to what they choose.
Little Wisp is in early access. It runs in a browser on a laptop or tablet with a microphone.
